Casino Bonus Terms & Conditions Explained

What are bonus terms and why they exist
A casino bonus — a welcome match, free spins, cashback or reload offer — is extra value the operator gives you to play with. In return, the operator attaches conditions so the offer cannot simply be deposited and instantly withdrawn. These conditions are the "bonus terms." They are not hidden traps when you understand them; they are the rulebook that decides how, and how much, of a bonus you can eventually turn into withdrawable cash.
Wagering (turnover) requirements
The single most important term. A wagering requirement (also called turnover or rollover) is how many times you must bet the bonus — or the deposit plus bonus — before winnings become withdrawable. It is written as a multiplier such as 20x or 35x.
For example, an RM100 bonus with 20x wagering on the bonus means you must place RM2,000 in total bets (RM100 × 20) before you can withdraw. Some offers apply the multiplier to deposit + bonus, which is stricter, so always check which basis is used. Lower multipliers are friendlier to players.
Maximum bet while a bonus is active
Most bonuses cap how much you may stake per spin or hand while wagering is unfinished — commonly around RM10–RM20. Placing a bet above the cap can void the bonus and any winnings from it. This rule stops players clearing a requirement with one huge bet, and it protects you from accidentally forfeiting an offer, so keep stakes modest until wagering is complete.
Game weighting (contribution)
Not every game clears wagering at the same rate. This is called game weighting or contribution. Slots usually count 100%, meaning RM1 wagered reduces your requirement by RM1. Table and live games count much less — sometimes 10% or even 0% — because they have a lower house edge. A typical contribution table looks like this:

So RM1 wagered on a slot removes RM1 from your requirement, but RM1 on blackjack at 5% removes only RM0.05. If you plan to play live casino, a bonus can take far longer to clear — worth knowing before you claim.
A worked wagering example
You deposit RM100 and receive a 100% match bonus of RM100. The terms say 25x wagering on the bonus, slots contribute 100%, and max bet is RM10.
- Wagering needed: RM100 × 25 = RM2,500 in total slot bets.
- On slots (100%), every RM1 staked counts fully, so you must place RM2,500 of spins.
- If you switched to roulette (10%), you would instead need RM25,000 of bets to clear the same requirement — ten times more.
- Keep each spin at or below RM10 so the bonus stays valid throughout.
Once RM2,500 of qualifying wagering is done, remaining bonus winnings (up to any max cashout) become withdrawable.
Maximum cashout
Some bonuses — especially no-deposit or free-spin offers — cap how much you can withdraw from bonus winnings, for example a max cashout of RM500. Win more than the cap and the surplus is removed at withdrawal. Deposit-match bonuses often have no such cap, but always check.
Expiry and time limits
Bonuses do not last forever. A promotion typically must be wagered within a set window — often 7 to 30 days — after which the bonus and any unconverted winnings are forfeited. Free spins may need to be used within 24–72 hours. Claim a bonus only when you have time to play it through sensibly, never rushing bigger stakes to beat the clock.
Eligible deposit methods
Certain payment methods can be excluded from bonus eligibility. In Malaysia, deposits via FPX, DuitNow, Touch 'n Go, Boost or GrabPay are usually eligible, but some offers exclude specific e-wallets. Check the qualifying methods before depositing so your bonus actually applies.
One bonus per person / household
Welcome offers are almost always limited to one per person, household, IP address, device or payment account. Opening multiple accounts to claim a bonus repeatedly ("bonus abuse") breaches terms and can lead to confiscated winnings and closed accounts. One genuine account per player is the rule.
Before claiming, ask four questions: What is the wagering multiplier and is it on bonus or deposit+bonus? Which games count? Is there a max cashout? When does it expire? If the answers do not suit how you like to play, it is fine to decline the bonus and play with cash instead.
